Building the Plans-Cadres
This is where implementation becomes concrete. Plans-cadres reflect a department’s interpretation of the devis within its institutional context.
They must align with:
- the devis
- the PIEA
- institutional policies
Backward Design
Before developing plans cadres, this guide introduces two key principles:
- Pedagogical alignment – ensure coherence between competencies, objectives, assessments, and activities
- Backward design – start with what students should be able to do, then define evidence of learning, then plan activities
Together, these principles help create courses where every task clearly supports the development of targeted competencies.
Plans-Cadres (A01, A02, A03, A04)
Developed with over 70 teachers across Québec, these sample plans-cadres provide:
- a shared structure
- evaluation frameworks
- a basis for consistency across CEGEPs
They are meant to be adapted to each local context, not copied and pasted.
